EMS AirFlow® Guided BiofilmTherapy

PORTISHEAD, BRISTOL

The 21st Century Way To Provide Preventive Oral Healthcare

Dental biofilm, commonly known as plaque, is the yellowish layer of bacteria that can build up on teeth over time. Made up of billions of bacteria that can cause dental decay, gingivitis, periodontitis & peri-implantitis. Keeping biofilm under control is an important part of preventative dental care. Biofilm can increase the risk of cardiovascular & respiratory disease, diabetes & arthritis.

Good oral hygiene can prevent most biofilm from forming, but even with regular brushing and cleaning between the teeth, some biofilm may still remain. Over time this can harden into scale, which should to be removed by a dental professional.

Guided biofilm therapy (GBT) using the EMS Air Flow® system is a new approach to oral health care.

Air Flow ® uses a fine spray of warmed water & Erythritol PLUS powder to gently deep clean the tooth surface above and below the gum line. This minimally invasive technology is safe to use on all oral surfaces & difficult to reach places: enamel, dentine, soft tissues, restorations, orthodontic appliances & implants.

Erythritol PLUS powder has the finest particle size used in dentistry, much finer than the paste used to polish your teeth.

It is more thorough and comfortable and gentler on tooth surfaces than traditional methods resulting in less bleeding & sensitivity.

Frequently Asked Questions

AirFlow® cleaning is a type of air polishing. Air polishing uses a mixture of water and powder, delivered under pressure and directed at the teeth to remove plaque, calculus and staining.

No. AirFlow® or any other type of air polishing does not hurt.

The effects of stain removal could last up to 12 months. This time is reduced if you consume food and drinks that cause staining, if you use a chlorhexidine mouthwash or if you are a smoker.

Scaling using a traditional ultrasonic and polishing with a rubber cup with paste will also remove plaque, calculus and staining. Professional tooth whitening will lighten the colour of your teeth.
