At your initial consultation, we will thoroughly examine your teeth and talk to you in detail about the process and benefits of dental implants. We will take x-rays of your teeth and in some cases we will refer you for a CBCT (Cone Beam CT Scan) to obtain highly accurate visual images of your teeth and jaw. This detailed scan allows us to identify any possible issues with your mouth and will enable us to accurately place your dental implants during surgery.
On the day of your dental implant surgery, you will arrive at Combe Road Dental. We will put you at ease and once you are ready, will give you a local anaesthetic which will numb the specific area in your mouth.
"If you have a failing tooth or several teeth which need to be removed, these will gently be extracted."
The formal healing period for dental implants is between 2 and 6 months and this allows the dental implants to fuse with your jawbone. Your mouth and gums may be a bit sore for the few days after dental implant surgery, but this shouldn’t last long.
Once your gums have healed sufficiently, we will invite you back to Combe Road Dental to have your restoration fitted. This might be a single crown or a bridge supporting a new set of teeth depending on whether you are having a single dental implant or multiple dental implants to support many missing teeth.
Your dental implant process is complete, and you will now have a brand-new smile with stunning looking new teeth.
It is vital that you maintain good oral hygiene, brushing and flossing twice daily to keep your gums healthy and to prolong the life of your dental implants. You should also continue to visit your dentist and hygienist on a regular basis.
