Dental Phobia

PORTISHEAD, BRISTOL

Overcome dental anxiety with our gentle care and IV sedation. We understand how frightening a dental visit can feel if you suffer from dental anxiety or phobia. Past experiences, a fear of pain, or simply feeling out of control can make even a routine check-up overwhelming.

If dental anxiety or dental phobia has kept you from the dentist, discover how our skilled, friendly team in Portishead can help you take the first step towards stress-free dental treatment and care.

How We Support Nervous Patients

Your journey begins with a relaxed conversation. Our friendly team will take time to listen to your concerns, understand your fears, and explain your options – everything is done at your pace.

Many patients find that simply being heard in a calm, non-judgemental environment helps ease their anxiety. For patients who need extra reassurance, our dentists offer IV sedationa safe, effective way to feel completely calm during treatment.

IV sedation is administered by our specially trained dentists, Karim and Toheed. Delivered via a small injection it creates a dream-like state where:

  • You feel deeply relaxed, as though you are asleep (but remain awake and able to respond).
  • You are unaware of the sights, sounds, and sensations of treatment.
  • Most patients have little or no memory of the procedure afterwards.

What to Expect with IV Sedation in Portishead

IV sedation is an excellent option for those with strong dental phobia, sensitive teeth, a low pain threshold, or indeed anyone needing longer or more complex procedures. Before your appointment or at a pre-sedation consultation we will:

  • Check your medical history and blood pressure
  • Explain your treatment in full
  • Ensure you have a companion available to take you home afterwards

On the day of treatment:

  • You’ll arrive with your companion, who must remain with you afterwards
  • Following your procedure, you’ll feel drowsy – you must not drive, work, or operate machinery for 24 hours
  • Most patients return home, rest, and feel completely recovered the next day
